Opera in Montefeltro Festival 2023

With La Musica Lirica USA, our 20th edition will stage 3 Operas with 4 dates each. 'Don Giovanni' by Mozart/Da Ponte and 'Falstaff' by Verdi/Boito are two absolute masterpieces where humanity is expressed to perfection. The third work, 'Il trionfo dell'onore' by Alessandro Scarlatti, is from the early eighteenth century and very rarely performed. It is the only comic opera by Alessandro Scarlatti as Falstaff is for Verdi, but with the style of the 'Commedia dell'arte' which represents human types, an expression of the 'Theory of affects'. It is one of the first musical examples of the centuries-old theatrical fortune of Don Giovanni who, with Mozart, will become one of the myths of European culture.
