Italian Phonetics for Belcanto

The principles of modern Italian phonetics applied to the poetic text of opera and vocal chamber music with respect to bel canto phonation

The 'Italian Phonetics for Belcanto' system, elaborated by M° Fabbri and successfully applied for more than twenty years on thousands of students all over the world, uses the capillary analytical capacity of phonetics in synergy with the principles of belcanto to succeed in making words comprehensible while singing, to achieve correct phrasing and facilitate the beauty of sound and expressiveness.

It consists of some group lessons in which the theoretical foundation is laid, and individual lessons in which theory is translated into practice.

Basic course:
- 2 group lessons of 2 hours each: the duration of phonemes and diphthongs, assimilation, syllabication and melody;
- Minimum 4 individual lessons: the number can be increased according to individual needs.

Medium course:
- 4 group lessons of 2 hours each: the duration of phonemes and diphthongs, assimilation, syllabication and melody, rhythm and meter, phrasing, recitative.
- Minimum 8 individual lessons: the number can be increased according to individual needs.

Upper course:
- 6 group lessons of 2 hours each: phoneme and diphthong duration, assimilation, syllabication and melody, rhythm and meter, phrasing, recitative, expressiveness.
- Minimum 12 individual lessons: the number can be increased according to individual needs.

Group lessons have a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 8 people.
